Erase data quickly and securely
Users need a quick and foolproof way to sanitize a drive. When a drive is reused in a new application or disposed, sanitization ensures that sensitive data does not fall into the wrong hands.
Depending on the sensitivity of the data, a simple erase may not be enough. Charge trapping in the flash cell can imprint the data making it potentially discoverable even after erasure. Secure erase protocols provide overwriting with patterns designed to mask previously written data.
Comtech TCS implements a full set of secure erase protocols in its SSDs, triggerable with either a software command or a hardware signal. These algorithms include:
- Fast Security Erase
- NSA 9-12
- DOD 5220.22-M
- DOD 5220.22-M Sup1
- NSA 130-2
- Army AR 380-19
- Navy NAVSO P-5239-26
- Air Force AFSSI 5020 and AFSSI 8580
- IRIG 106-07
Once it has started, each of these erase methods will continue to completion. If power is interrupted or the drive is reset, the erase operation will pick up where it left off and complete when power is restored. Comtech TCS rigorously tests each algorithm to ensure that it is properly implemented.
